A Message from our C.E.O. Twenty years ago I began my trucking career with a swinging beef company out of Then some ten years ago while working on a milling lathe I tooled a tapered pin to fit the slider holes. This simple slider positioning tool made it possible to hit the correct hole alignment with one slide the first time every time. Today, the Tandem Stoppers team has taken the original design off the lathe and turned it into a zinc coated steel forging; stronger, easier to use and capable of withstanding anything any trucker can dish out. Today with ever increasing crackdowns by the D.O.T. and the FMCSA shifting your tandems to remain within legal weight distribution requirements, speed and accuracy in shifting tandems is more important than ever. Present data shows last year the FMCSA conducted 3.2 million roadside inspections and as a result put 760,000 trucks and busses and 224,000 drivers out of service. Needless to say the associated fines are more than fleets want to pay and more than the average owner-operator can afford. For 2007, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has warned they will be increasing the number of roadside inspections. They will be cracking down on over weight loads, over axle weight and safety related issues. Drivers beware! Over the years we’ve seen drivers from all over the country try to shift using crow bars, hammer heads, tree limbs and a variety of other methods including the famous “drop your hat and guess from forty feet away” method to correctly shift in one pull or push. Even experienced drivers have trouble. The use of improper fitting “tools” can and most likely will damage the slider mechanism making your job even harder and more costly. Our patent pending for our slider positioning tool called Tandem Stoppers, are designed to fit the slider hole correctly, distributing the force of the slide evenly without falling out or damaging your slider during the sliding process. (Note: Make sure you remove your Tandem Stoppers after the slide before you drive off so you don’t lose them going down the road.) Tandem Stoppers, LLC is located in Once you’ve tried Tandem Stoppers we are confident your will enjoy them as much as we have over the years. Good luck and good fortune in your career as a professional driver Keep the shiny side up!Jeff Landis, C.E.O. Tandem Stoppers, LLC. |
